CSSS Online Mountain Madness Hackathon this weekend (Reading Break!)

Hi All,


This is a reminder that this weekend the Computing Science Student Society is hosting our annual 24 hour Mountain Madness Hackathon this weekend! Attendance is free!


What is a hackathon?

A hackathon is an event where teams of people come together to work on a shared project inspired by an event-provided theme. Mountain Madness will have 24 hours of development time allotted, during which teams will start from scratch and try to make the coolest thing they can before the time is up.

SFU CSSS CS:GO Tournament: February 18th - 19th

Hi Everyone,

The SFU Computing Science Student Society is holding a tournament for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on Thursday, February 18th and continuing onto the next day. The winning team will win $100, and the runner up will win $50. The tournament is open to all SFU students, so make sure to invite your friends. Signups close on February 15th, so make sure to sign up fast:https://forms.gle/HTvMYopDMbqz31LR7


All communication between the participants and the organizers will be held over Discord, so please make sure that everyone has a working Discord account.

Board Game Night

We’ll be hosting a Virtual Board Game Night on February 5th, starting at 6pm, where we’ll be hosting Jackbox games, skribbl.io,Tabletop Simulator, netgames.io, Cards against Humanity and Among Us.

CSSS Mountain Madness Hackathon Information

Hi all,

The Computing Science Student Society (CSSS) will be hosting our annual 24-hour "Mountain Madness" (Virtual) hackathon on February 13th and 14th!

Sign-up and attendance is free!

If you are attending StormHacks hackathon the two events are on different weekends making them not conflict.

Throughout the event we will be giving out $10 gift cards to Uber Eats and Skip the Dishes to random people participating in the hackathon!

Everyone is welcome to attend. This event has no restrictions on programming level and is a great opportunity to meet new people and learn new skills!

Hackathon projects are a great addition for your resume where you get to show your ability outside of course work.

The event is from 10:00am Saturday February 13thto 10:30am Sunday February 14th PST, a more detailed schedule can be found on our websitehttps://sfucsss.org/events/mountain_madness2021

You can work in teams of up to 5, or work individually. If you have friends who are not at SFU you can still work with them, however your group should be a majority of SFU students. So if your group of 5 has 2 people not from SFU that is allowed!

Movie Night

Hello CSSS Members, 


We hope all of you are doing well!


On January 29th, starting at 6pm, we’ll be hosting a Movie Night. We’ll be playing one movie which will be voted by the viewers on discord on the day of the event! Here are the current options for the movie:
