Have you ever been:

Too intimidated to approach a professor?

Too scared to come to office hours?

Feeling distanced from your own educators?

On Thursday, March 28th, come to TASC 9204 to meet your mentors and make small talk, or strike up a deeper conversation if that appeals more to you (save the academic questions for office hours though!). This is an opportunity to meet some of your professors and instructors and talk about various topics in a casual, low-stakes, environment and away from all the academic stress! πŸ“š

Light refreshments will also be provided! The event is free, but registration is required ahead of time.

😎 Counter-Strike Tournament!!! 😎

posted by Arya Faghihy on March 8, 2024, 8:21 a.m.

COUNTER-STRIKE

It is one of the greatest first person shooter games ever made.
Millions of people have played this fantastic game since its first release as a Half-Life mod 25 years ago.
There are numerous Counter-Strike tournaments being held world-wide, with lucrative prizes for only the most fierce and dedicated players.

But how many of those people have played it with the person who invented it? You, dear reader, have that chance.

If you are shocked, take a deep breath. Read the sentence above again until it settles in your mind.

Still shocked? Haha, that’s normal too. Read it again.

And again.

And again.

…

It is with great pleasure that I announce this collaboration between the CSSS and the SFU Esports Association: The Ultimate Counter Strike Tournament to Rule Them All, Once And For All (TUCSTRTAOAFA)!!! πŸ”₯ 🀩 ❀️

We will be joined at this event by Minh Le aka Gooseman, game designer, SFU Alumni, and the inventor of Counter-Strike!

The event will be held on Tuesday, March 12th, in the SFU Esports Lounge, from 06:00 PM to 09:00 PM.

Prepare for an unforgettable tournament that will certainly be remembered until the end of times: Sign Up Here

Note: unfortunately we have a limited number of machines that can play counter strike, so we won't be able to accommodate everyone who signs up. But even if you aren’t able to sign up in time, feel free to come by, say hi, and watch a game πŸ™‚
