ThinkTech Competition 2018 - Work with Deloitte

posted by Kasra Jamshidi on Sept. 21, 2018, 12:47 p.m.

Hi folks, The ThinkTech competition is a case-competition/hackathon taking place from October 25th to November 29th, presented by SFU MISA, BizTech, and Deloitte. Over the course of a month, cross-functional teams of business/applied science students compete in developing a prototype to solve a real problem for Deloitte, one of the largest and most successful accounting firms in the world. Teams are eligible for several prizes, listed on the event page linked below. ThinkTech offers the opportunity to develop software in a realistic work setting and gain experience in solving business problems with technology. Compared to a traditional hackathon, ThinkTech allows you to develop a more refined product (and maintain your sleep schedule!) Note, however, that it entails a month-long unpaid commitment, and Deloitte retains the intellectual property rights for your team's submission, regardless of the outcome of the competition. More information: http://sfumisa.com/events/#thinktech Application link: https://bit.ly/2NFqyaG Deadline to apply is September 28, 11:59 PM. Feel free to reach out with questions. Apply to CSSS Policy Committee and Constitution Reform

posted by Winfield Chen on Sept. 13, 2018, 10:32 p.m.

Hello Computing Science Student Society members, The Constitution reform is underway! I just received multiple proposed new drafts of our Constitution from multiple members. I am assembling a Policy Committee of 9 members to review these changes as the first step of the Constitution amendment process. It will take several weeks but in the end we will have a new Constitution by the end of the term. The CSSS Constitution is important because it is the foundation of the CSSS, the student society which represents YOUR interests! If you would like to be on this committee please let me know and include a brief statement on applicable experience and qualities. If you have proposed changes to the Constitution please get in touch. Winfield Chen Vice-President | CSSS

Hi Folks, The SFU Computing Science Student Society is in need of a new logo, and we want YOU to design it. We are looking for something clean, simple, yet sexy to represent us for the years to come. This job is paid (we know you can't live off of exposure) and we are asking for three logos (so we have options) plus one round of touch-ups in return for $150. If interested, send your portfolio consisting of other logos you have created, and other relevant vector work to csss-doc@sfu.ca.
