Hello All!

I hope everyone has been surviving midterms and was able to take advantage of the long weekend to do some well-deserved relaxing.

This email is to inform everyone that the proposal to change the CSSS constitution was successfully passed on Wednesday November 7th.

If you would like to take a look at the changes that were approved, feel free to look at either the complete constitution or the summaries of the change at the following link: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1vMY9FR1jnwwb9cAE2XsAsmq15UhPrS6T

The above link will be available for a week, after which time, you can always access the complete up to date CSSS Constitution at the following link: https://github.com/CSSS/public-docs/blob/master/constitutions/Constitution_September_2018.pdf

Subject: CSSS Constitution Changes

Hi everyone!

The CSSS has been considering a change to our constitution. We are now putting forward our proposal to be voted upon on or after October 31st.

With this email, I have included a Google Drive Link to a folder that contains the old constitution (approved September 2015), the proposed changes, and a brief summary of the changes with some justifications.

Please take some time to review; we are actively seeking feedback on these changes! If further changes to the document occur as a result of feedback, we may push the date for voting further in order to allow new conversation to occur. If you have any feedback or concerns, please e-mail me at j_manshad@sfu.ca

Thanks as always, and have a fun day,
-Jace Manshadi

Upcoming Tech Company Visits and Tech Industry Events!

posted by Winfield Chen on Oct. 19, 2018, 1:04 p.m.

Hey CSSS members! The CSSS in combination with SFU Alumni Relations is organizing tours of local tech companies and a tech industry-related after-event where there may be networking opportunities, speakers from industry, government, or academia, and lots more - but we need your help to determine what YOU want to see at these upcoming tours and events. Complete the following survey and let us know how we can best serve you in the upcoming tours and events this year! The most-voted for tech companies will be the ones that we visit this term and the most-preferred style of after-event will be what we host. http://websurvey.sfu.ca/survey/328728415 Sincerely, Winfield Chen Vice-President | CSSS

Volunteer for Convocation

posted by Kasra Jamshidi on Sept. 24, 2018, noon

Hi everyone,

As a part of Fall Convocation, the SFU Alumni Association is offering
complimentary professional headshots to grads. We need some additional
helping hands to help run our operation. It is located in the AQ next to
Images Theatre.

The Alumni Association helps us out a lot with our Silicon Valley trip, so
it would be great if we could help them too!

They are looking for volunteers for the following:

• Thursday, Oct. 4, 11:15 am - 1:30 pm
• Thursday, Oct. 4, 3:45 - 6:30 pm
• Friday, Oct. 5, 11:15 am - 1:30 pm
• Friday, Oct. 5, 3:45 - 6:30 pm

You can do more than one shift if you'd like, too! Light snacks, beverages and
lunch (for the earlier shift) will be provided.

Volunteer roles include:

Ushers: Welcome grads, assists with line management, registrations,
managing belongings, and regalia returns as needed.
Event Promotes the free headshot offerings. Assists with regalia
Promoters: returns as needed.
Provides support as needed. Retrieves regalia from
Floaters: promoters and ushers, and delivers them to the regalia
table.

If you're interested, send Chika Buston (alumni4@sfu.ca) an email with your preferred
shift(s).

Thanks in advance!

Best,

Kasra Jamshidi
