Fall 2019 CSSS Award

posted by VJ Bakhshi on Aug. 30, 2019, 5:02 p.m.

Hey CSSS members!

The fall semester is upon us, which means the spring CSSS award is up for grabs. The minimum $2000 award is given to one student for their contributions to the Computing Science Student Society or computer science undergraduate student body. To be eligible for this award, a student must have:
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 at SFU and be in good academic standing. In the case that the student is a first term or transfer student, he/she must possess and equivalent secondary school or college standing.
  • Registration in a minimum of 9 units of standard graded courses in the term of eligibility.

Included should be a letter addressed to the Director of the School of Computing Science, which details your involvement with the CSSS or undergraduate community. Additionally, resumes and reference letters have been provided in the past, but are not required. The awards will be made by the Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee on the recommendation of the Director of the School of Computing Science in consultation with the undergraduate Computing Science Student Society. Note that this award is not exclusive to declared computer science majors - any student who meets the GPA and credit requirements may apply or be nominated.

Please submit your nominations to csss-exec-current@sfu.ca by 11:59 PM on Friday, September 6th. We wish you all the best in this coming semester!

Frosh Volunteer SIGN UP

posted by VJ Bakhshi on Aug. 8, 2019, 12:05 p.m.

Hello Everyone,

We're now almost one month away from our biggest event of the year - Frosh Week! That means it's time to start looking for Frosh Leaders, and we'd love to have you on board!

As a Frosh Leader, you'd help a new group of computing students feel welcome at SFU, and to assist our organizing committee with our daily events.

For those who attended their Frosh, this is a great opportunity to relive those memories and to give back. For those who never attended their Frosh, then maybe it's your chance to see what all the legends are about.

Some benefits of being a Frosh Leader:
  • Fun events with awesome people
  • Leadership experience
  • Provide inspiration to froshees and help the next generation
  • Free food, t-shirts, and gifts
  • Quite a bit more!
To sign up as a Frosh Leader, fill out thesurvey.

For more information about the Computing Science Student Society, Frosh Week, and to see our event schedule, visit ourFrosh Week Website.

Thank you for reading, and see you during Frosh Week!
