Dear CMPT students,

Have you ever been worried about the efficacy and functionality of your JavaScript code?
Maybe if you could rigorously test it using some handy framework, you'd feel better about deployments!

Then we have good news for you, because we are hosting a JavaScript Testing workshop this semester!
In this workshop, we will introduce you to unit/integration testing using frameworks such as Cypress and Jest.

The tentative date for this workshop is Thursday (October 19th), from 5:00PM - 6:00PM in TASC1 9204, although this issubject to change in lieu of the TSSU strike.

Please fill out this form to show your interest in this workshop: http://websurvey.sfu.ca/survey/455837014.

Keep an eye out for more information regarding this workshop!

Dear CSSS members,

Want to show off your artistic talent?

The Computing Science Student Society is holding a mural competition for several uses: our Discord banner, website banner, etc.

What do we mean by mural?

By mural, we mean a design that incorporates the CSSS logo into a wider artwork.
Empty space surrounding the CSSS logo should be used effectively and creatively to create a striking design.

Are there any requirements?

You must submit your design by October 27th, 11:59PM.
You must incorporate the CSSS logo into your mural.
Our logo's fundamental design must remain the same: the letters "CSSS" forming a computer.
That said, you may remake the logo in whatever style you want.

There are no dimensions requirement; it can be portrait, landscape, square, etc.
There are no theme / style requirement: have fun and get creative!
If you get stuck on a theme, ask yourself: what does CS + SFU =?

Is there a prize?

Yes!
The winning designer will receive a free CSSS hoodie to show our love for your effort!

Regarding Scam Emails | CSSS

posted by Micah Baker on Oct. 19, 2023, 7:13 p.m.

Dear CSSS member,

We have received several reports of emails pretending to be us that ask the receiver to click a link.

This is a warning to always check where an email originates from, and to not trust links from senders you don't know!
The CSSS will never ask you for information outside of a trusted medium (i.e., EventBrite, Google Forms, SFU WebSurvey).

If you have received an email that follows a similar format to the attached screenshots, it is not from us!

If you are ever unsure, do not hesitate to reach out to us at csss-exec-current@sfu.ca, or send a message in our Discord server https://discord.gg/sfucsss.

Stay safe in cyberspace! 📡 💾 ✨

I am letting you know that CSSS Board Games Night is happening this Friday, Oct. 20, from 06:00-09:00 PM!

Wait wait hold up! 👋  Did the time change?!?!
I think it's usually from 05:00 - 08:30 PM. I always attend Board Games Night; even if not in person, then in heart. I've read a whole article in The Burnaby Herald that talks about it.
Therefore, I am certain that the time changed!

--> Yes, pls note the above ☝️

As always, boardgames 🎲, pizza 🍕 & pop 🫧 await!
All students are welcome (CS or non-CS)! 🔥

See you there

End of transmission.
