2020-2021 General Election Results

Hi everyone,

The voting period for the CSSS General Elections is now over and the results have been compiled. 

I'm happy to announce the results of the Computing Science Student Society
2020-2021 CSSS General Elections.

There were 132 responses to the websurvey.

Your new President, with 53 votes (40.2% approval), is Vijender "VJ" Bakhshi.
Hun Seol came in second place with 38 votes (28.8% approval).
Arya Tavakoli came in third place with 16 votes (12.1% approval).
Liam Wilson came in fourth place with 7 votes (5.30% approval).
Bryan Daniel came in fifth place with 5 votes (3.79% approval
there were 7 votes of no confidence (5.30%), and a 4.5% skip rate (6 votes).

Your new Vice President, with 79 votes (59.8% approval), is Sarbjot Mann.
Paymon Jalali came in second place with 29 votes (22.0% approval).
Liam Wilson came in third place with 6 votes (4.5% approval).
there were 9 votes of no confidence (6.81%), and a 6.81% skip rate (9 votes).

Your new Treasurer, with 87 votes (65.9% approval), is Mitchell Gale.
Manav Sharma came in second place with 21 votes (15.9% approval).
Liam Wilson came in third place with 7 votes (5.30% approval).
there were 13 votes of no confidence (9.84%), and a 3.03% skip rate (4 votes).


Your new Director of Resources, with 83 votes (62.9% approval), is Truman Bui.
Liam Wilson came in second place with 23 votes (17.4% approval).
there were 16 votes of no confidence (12.1%), and a 7.58% skip rate (10 votes).


Your new Director of Events, with 38 votes (28.8% approval), is John Wu.
Akash Bhatthal came in second place with 37 votes (28.0% approval).
Liam Wilson came in third place 29 votes (22.0% approval).
there were 18 votes of no confidence (13.63%), and a 7.58% skip rate (10 votes).

Your new Assistant Director of Events, with 51 votes (38.6% approval), is Shiva Sanei.
Akash Bhatthal came in second place with 25 votes (18.9% approval).
Liam Wilson came in third place with 18 votes (13.6% approval).
John Wu came in fourth place with 15 votes (11.4% approval).
there were 11 votes of no confidence (8.33%), and a 9.09% skip rate (12 votes).


Your new Director of Communications, with 67 votes (50.75% approval), is Argus Li.
Liam Wilson came in second place with 35 votes (26.5% approval).
there were 18 votes of no confidence (13.6%), and a 9.09% skip rate (12 votes).


Your new Director of Archives, with 57 votes (43.2% approval), is Dusan Kovacevic.
Liam Wilson came in second place with 20 votes (15.2% approval).
John Wu and Akash Bhatthal tied for third place with 18 votes (13.6% approval).
there were 10 votes of no confidence (7.58%), and a 6.81% skip rate (9 votes).

[CSSS] General Meeting Announcement: April 30th

Hello CSSS Members,
 
The CSSS will be holding a meeting on Thursday the 30th.

This meeting will proceed differently due to the current social distancing measures instituted.

This meeting will take place online on the CSSS Discord(https://discord.gg/Eg5Urnr)  in the General Meetings Voice Channel.
 
Location Details:
Day: April 30th, 2020
Time: 3:00pm-4:00pm
Location: Online on the CSSS Discord in the #General_Meetings Voice Channel

You are automatically a member of the CSSS if:
 
    A declared CMPT Major, Minor, or Honours in any program of study offered at the undergraduate level by the School of Computing Science;
    or currently enrolled in any undergraduate course offered by the School of Computing Science; or are an Honorary Member of the Society

REMINDER: 2020-2021 CSSS General Elections Voting Period ends soon

I wanted to let everyone know that tomorrow, April 22nd, 2020, is the last day to vote for the Computing Society Student Society General Elections for the 2020-2021 term. The polls close at 11:59PM on the 22nd and results will be released the day after.

I hope everyone did well on their exams and good luck to anyone who still has exams to write.

Subject: [Annoucement] New sections: CMPT 213 and CMPT 363
 

Hi CSSS Members,

I'm happy to announce that the School of Computing Science will open two sections of CMPT 213 and CMPT 363 for Summer 2020.

CMPT 213

The course will take place MWF, from 3:30-4:20, and currently enrollment is open to Computing Students only. Enrollment for this section will open at 6pm on Friday, April 10th.


CMPT 363:

This course will be taking place every Tuesday from 2:30-4:20 and Thursday from 2:30-3:20


Currently enrollment is prioritized to students on the CMPT 363 E1 waiting list. The students on the waiting are being contacted and will have until Thursday, April 16th to claim their seat.


Direct enrollment might be possible after April 16th.


The School of Computing Science, is continue to look into opening more sections and adding more seats to existing sections, please stay tuned for any further updates.

Dear Computing Students,


The School of Computing Science will open two sections of computing courses very shortly.


CMPT 213:

  - MWF 3:30-4:20

  - Enrolment is open to Computing students only to begin with.

  - Enrolment will open at 6pm on Friday, April 10.


CMPT 363 D1:

  - Tu 2:30-4:20, Th 2:30-3:20

  - Enrolment is prioritized to Computing students currently on the CMPT 363 E1 waiting list.  Those students have been contacted and will have until Thursday April 16 to claim their seat.

  - Direct enrolment will be possible after April 16.


The School is looking into opening more sections and adding more seats to existing sections.  Please stay tuned for further updates.

The voting period for the Computing Science Student Society General Elections for the 2020-2021 term begins on Today, April 15th 2020 at 7:00 pm and closes onWednesday April 22th at 11:59 pm. Visit here to view candidate speeches, and here to vote.
