Academic Concessions cases

posted by Mitchell Gale on March 30, 2022, 2:09 p.m.

Hi All,

This is a reminder to students who make academic concessions to make them when they require assistance. I was told by an instructor that there was a sharp increase in academic concession requests recently compared to other semesters, some of which were reasonable and regular academic concessions, but with others trying to "game the system". If you have agenuine case for academic concession, please continue to make them, if not please reconsider.

Here is an SFU resource on academic concession.

Sincerely,

Mitchell Gale

Hi All,

Attached is the proposed constitutional amendments (text coloured green). From the previously sent constitution amendment a minor update was made to 6.2 which adds the two proposed roles to a list of exec positions.

These amendments will be voted on during the Monday, April 4th CSSS General Meeting.

Summary of amendments is adding two new executive positions to the Computing Science Student Society executive team.

Position 1 is "Director of Educational Events", this person will be responsible for running various workshops, these could be Git, Linux, Python workshops, technical interview, resume workshops, or info sessions, technology talks and more! Specifics of this role would be left to the exec team and the individual elected into this position.

Position 2 is "Director of Multi-media", this person will be responsible for creating advertisement for CSSS events, projects and more. Specifics of this role would be left to the exec team and the individual elected into this position.

** General meeting is April 4th, 2022 at 6:30PM - 7:30PM.

Please let me know if you have any questions about these proposed roles.

Thanks,

Mitchell Gale

Computing Science Student Society President
