This is notice of the Computing Science Student Society's next general meeting.
What are general meetings for?
General meetings are how the Computing Science Student Society passes information along to the student body and how motion money is spent on items and events. By attending you will get to have a better understanding how we operate and have a say in how we are run.

If you wish to run for one or both of these positions I recommend you bring a short speech about why you believe you would be well suited for the position. If you have any questions about the below positions please reach out to the Computing Science Student Society Executive team at csss-exec-current@sfu.ca.
Executive at Large:
This position is from May 2022 - August 2022
This is a great opportunity to get involved with the CSSS to help out and learn about the Society as well as the School. The Executive at Larges get to help out in the CSSS Common Room, with events and other random stuff they want to.
The official responsibilities are:
- Share responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the CSSS and its resources.
- Be available to the other executives to assist them with tasks relating to the operations and activities of the CSSS.
- Write a continuity report at the end of their term for the next executive member who will fill this position.
Frosh Chair
This position is from May 2022 - September 2022
The Frosh Chair directs the organization of Frosh Week and plans the week leading up to the event. Some events include; ice cream socials, board games nights, overnight events, movie nights, and more. If you're passionate about giving new students a fantastic first semester experience, this is the position for you.
The official responsibilities are:
– Be responsible for overseeing the organization and planning of Frosh Week.
– Chair a Frosh Week Committee and hold regular meetings to discuss and plan Frosh Week.
– Hold their position from the time of their appointment until the conclusion of all Frosh Week events that were planned.
We know this time may not work for everyone. If you are unable to attend the meeting and wish to run for a position please email us at
csss-exec-current@sfu.ca with a speech and which position you are interested in running for. We will read your speech and express your interest in running for the position(s) during the meeting.
You can run for both the First Year Representative position as well as the Executive at Large position, but you can only hold one of the positions.
Voting restricted to Members only. You are a Member if you are: a declared CMPT Major, Minor, or Honours in any program of study offered at the undergraduate level by the School of Computing Science; or currently enrolled in any undergraduate course offered by the School of Computing Science; or are an Honourary Member of the Society.
