CSSS Award Fall 2017 Application

Hello everyone,

The application for CSSS Award Fall 2017 is now officially open. Please attach your application to the reply of this email before September 10th, 2017, 11:59PM. More information regarding the award can be found below:

Award Criteria:
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 at SFU and be in good academic standing. In the case the student is a first term or transfer student he/she must possess an equivalent secondary school or college standing.
Registration in a minimum of 9 units of standard graded courses in the term of eligibility
Award Reference:

Title: COMPUTING SCIENCE STUDENT SOCIETY AWARD
Program ID: UEAO-42
Amount: $2000

The Undergraduate Computing Science Student Society fund provides annual awards from a portion of the earned interest. Awards will be given in the Fall and/or Spring terms to undergraduate students in Computing Science, who if declared majors, meet the GPA requirements to stay in the School, or if not a declared major, meet the School's requirement to declare. Candidates need not have completed all the courses required to declare a major in Computing Science.

Applicants must demonstrate service to the university community in particular to the undergraduate Computing Science Student Society and/or the Computing Science undergraduate student body. Financial need may be taken into account if more than one student qualifies for the award.

Applications for the award should be addressed to the Director of the School of Computing Science and will include a letter discussing university community involvement or involvement with the Society. Recommendations from any member may be submitted to the Director.
All applications will be reviewed by the CSSS to determine the best nominee going forward, and all applications will be sent to the UCC. A final decision will be reached between the CSSS and the UCC to determine the winning nominee.

CSSS By-Elections 2017-2018

CSSS By-Elections 2017-2018 Results

Greetings All,

The voting period for the CSSS By-Elections for the 2017-2018 term is now over and the results have been compiled.

Before getting to the results, I'd like to take a moment to thank our previous Director of Events and Director of Archives, Brendan Chan and Josh Wu respectively for their hardwork and dedication to their position.

There were 76 responses to the websurvey.

Your new Director of Events is Courtenay Huffman, with Oscar Smith-Sieger coming in at second place.

Your new Director of Archives is Dawn Chandler, with Ali Arshad coming in at second place.

Congratulations to the new executives of the CSSS!

A very big thank you to everyone who ran for a position, everyone who voted and all members of the CSSS who have helped me along the way.

Due to a mistake with the voting system previously set up, I have had to create a new voting survey. I do apologize for the inconvenience and spam. As a new survey has been opened up, I ask that all those who previously submitted a vote, to do so again.
