Hello CSSS Members,

SAP is running an invitational hackathon for student groups from Vancouver universities and we (SFU) have been invited!

Event details:

  • Date/time: Friday, Sept 30 @ 1 pm – Sunday, Oct 2 @ 5 pm
  • Location: 910 Mainland St, Vancouver BC (SAP Vancouver office)
  • Free to attend; free food and accommodation included
  • Prizes: SAP recruitment and networking and more prizes. In addition, if your team registers on behalf of the CSSS, we receive up to $7000 in SAP sponsorship for events.
  • Teams: 3 members, 1 team leader per team

The deadline for signup is September 13. Please reply to this email or send an email to csss-doe-current@sfu.ca with your team members’ names and leader’s contact email. I will forward the leader the official signup form which must be filled out immediately after.

Here’s some more information about the event:

The SAP Invitational Hackathon is a weekend hacking event for top recruiting universities in BC (UBC, SFU, BCIT, and NE). You will get to solve a real-world challenge with a creative mind plus an opportunity to showcase your unique expertise to a panel of hiring managers. You will also be guided by a panel of experts who develop some of the most innovative SAP enterprise solutions during the Hackathon, to gain certain tips and exposure to industry practices and network with them.

The space is limited, each university will be only allocated 10 teams* to compete with the most talented uprising stars in Vancouver, BC.

Prizes include: Lunch with SAP’s executive team members and hiring managers, and much more. Additionally, certificates will be provided to those who participate.

Additional caveat for student clubs: Those who wish to sign up may also associate themselves with student clubs. To those who do, the highest ranking winner will also be competing for a $7,000 prize pool of SAP sponsorship towards their events.

* Note that other student groups such as SFU Surge and WiCS may also send teams, so if your team signs up under the CSSS we cannot guarantee a spot in the event.

Happy hacking!
